Turquoise Summer

As we inch towards summer, I’m thrilled to start seeing pops of colors. Turquoise (Pantone’s Color of 2010 ), and corals, and bright blues are sprouting!

At the studio, we received a few limited edition strands of gorgeous oceanic amazonite:

I can’t wait to play with it to create the next wave of ready-made Limited Edition pieces of jewelry. I’m dreaming of pairing it with drapped gold chains…

Re-Wear Your Wardrobe Series #1- Spring into flower motifs.

Anthropologie’s Spring collection: Get Rosy features flower motifs such as these cuties:

Try this trend of the moment with our 2 minute necklace project.

All you need are:

  • necklaces!
  • a few rosettes (available at craft stores- I got mine at Michaels for about $2 a pop).
  • Safety pin (optional)

We created updates to our single-strand Sinfully Simple necklaces as shown below, but you can use any beaded or chain necklace from your jewelry box.

To create, simply attach a safety-pinned satin flower to your necklace.

You can also lengthen one strand with safety pins to create this double necklace look:

If you have a chain necklace- this works just as well. We took a Chain Me Up necklace we had in studio:

and added our flower pin to create:

What’s In and Out for Spring Fashion

My Spring Jewelry tips were picked up by ivillage. Woot! I’m honored! Read all sixteen tips here. Some really great ideas to refresh your closet.

My tips (on page 9):

I’m feeling kind of sad about leggings being out, but excited that neon colors are once again hip. I’ve been eyeing a few neon nail polishes on recent trips to the drug store, and I think this might be a sign that I need some neon pink and green in my life!

I’ve been mixing my own custom nail polish shades for years.
It started out in middle school when I couldn’t afford coveted Hard Candy (those gummy rings were darling) and I made my own copycat shades.
Once I started, I never stopped!  It’s so easy to darken (mixing in some black) or lighten (mixing in some white) shades you’ve grown bored of.
Some women match their shoes to their bag; I match my toes to my bling.
Pictured is my latest shade, inspired by these gorgeous gunmetal hematite beads. It’s also an “It” shade for this Fall according to Fashion Week runways. Read more here!
To make your own: add black polish to a pearly white until you get desired shade. Happy mixing!

* Really cute Butterfly jewelry holder: via Trendhunter. (Please note- storing real silver pieces in the open will cause them to tarnish more quickly. D’oh! So, only hang your costume pieces out for the world to see).

Trend Alert: Hot for Turquoise

Pantone, the world’s leading authority on color has declared Turquoise the official color of 2010. Expect to see alot of this hue this year in fashion, interior design and more.

I’m hoping that this means more peeps will get cozy with amazonite, a tranquil teal gemstone I’ve been crushing for years.
